CFM International Secures US and European Approvals for Jet Engine Durability Upgrade
CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and France's Safran, has received U.S. and European regulatory approvals for an upgrade designed to improve the durability of its LEAP-1B engines, which are used on Boeing 737 MAX jets. This "durability kit" is expected to double the "time on wing" between key repairs in challenging environments like the Middle East and India, addressing a significant concern for airlines. The upgrade will be available for maintenance and included in the production line for new engines.
