Volkswagen to convert Osnabrück plant for air defense system components in strategic shift.

Volkswagen has entered into a deal with Israeli investment group Aurelius Capital and the state of Lower Saxony to repurpose its Osnabrück factory. The plant, which was scheduled to cease vehicle production next year, will now manufacture components for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the producer of Israel's Iron Dome air-defence system. This strategic pivot aims to secure 1,800 jobs and signifies a notable entry for Germany's automotive sector into the defense industry.
