Nasdaq Announces End-of-Month Open Short Interest Positions as of Settlement Date September 30, 2026

Nasdaq has released the end-of-month open short interest positions for Nasdaq stocks as of the September 30, 2026 settlement date. Short interest in 3,885 Nasdaq Global Market securities totaled 18,657,486,300 shares, an increase from 18,116,572,644 shares reported for the prior settlement date of September 15, 2026. For Nasdaq Capital Market securities, short interest totaled 4,436,257,542 shares in 1,667 securities, up from 4,404,738,050 shares in 1,654 securities in the previous period. Overall, short interest in all 5,552 Nasdaq securities reached 23,093,743,842 shares at the September 30 settlement date, compared with 22,521,310,694 shares in 5,516 issues at the end of the prior reporting period.
