Armed Person Shot by Police Following Mount Vernon Standoff

Police in Mount Vernon shot an armed individual who had barricaded themselves in an apartment following a mental health commitment order. Officers engaged in a multi-hour negotiation, employing non-lethal tools before obtaining a warrant to enter. The individual, reportedly making self-harm threats, was shot after continuing to pose an imminent threat and was hospitalized.
