Washington Governor Declares Statewide Wildfire Emergency Amid Extreme Fire Threat

Governor Bob Ferguson has declared a statewide state of emergency for Washington due to severe drought conditions, high temperatures, and strong winds exacerbating numerous wildfires. A statewide burn ban is now in effect through September 30, 2026, and additional National Guard troops may be activated to assist firefighting efforts. This declaration aims to prevent further loss of life and property as over 200,000 acres are currently burning in 12 large fires across the state.
