Train Derailment Reported Near Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, Pennsylvania

Emergency officials in Blair County confirmed a train derailment near the Horseshoe Curve in Logan Township, Altoona, involving 17 empty train cars and two Norfolk Southern locomotives. While no hazardous materials were released and no immediate danger to the public was reported, the incident has led to the cancellation of Amtrak's Pennsylvanian 42/43 for the day. An investigation into the derailment, which occurred either Tuesday afternoon or early Friday morning, is currently underway.
