Federal Special Education Research Funding at Risk of Expiration

An analysis suggests that the U.S. Department of Education might not utilize nearly $289 million allocated for the Institute of Education Sciences by the end of the current fiscal year. A substantial portion, 84%, of the special education research budget reportedly remains unallocated. This situation could impede vital research efforts aimed at supporting students with disabilities.
