Michigan Governor Proposes Appointing University Board Members

Governor Whitmer is seeking a constitutional amendment in Michigan to shift the power of appointing university trustees from elected officials to the governor. This initiative aims to alter the governance structure of higher education institutions in the state. Michigan is currently one of only four states where these board members are elected.
