Federal Student Loan Program Changes Effective July 1

Significant revisions to federal student loan programs, including new borrowing limits for Parent PLUS and graduate students, are scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026. Pell Grant eligibility will also be adjusted, with new rules for students receiving other grants and an expansion to include short-term, high-skill programs. Borrowers with new loans after this date will have only two repayment options.
