Illinois Legislature Approves Classroom Phone Ban and Language Requirement Changes

The Illinois General Assembly has passed legislation that will mandate public and charter schools to implement policies restricting cell phone use during instructional hours, starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. Additionally, a new measure will allow students to fulfill foreign language requirements through career and technical education courses. The Governor intends to sign these bills into law.
