Lawmakers Introduce Resolution to Overturn Department of Education Rule Capping Federal Student Loans for Essential Professions

A bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Rep. Suzanne Bonamici and Sen. Jeff Merkley, has introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to repeal a Department of Education rule. This rule limits federal student loan caps for students pursuing essential professions such as nursing, social work, and teaching, and also eliminates the Grad PLUS program and creates new, more expensive repayment options.
