New Georgia Laws Introduce K-8 Device Restrictions and Athletic Team Designations

Several new Georgia laws impacting K-12 education are scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026. These include the "Distraction-Free Education Act," which mandates policies restricting personal electronic device use for K-8 students during school hours. Additionally, legislation will require school athletic teams to be designated as male, female, or coeducational, with participation limits based on these categories, and homeschooled students will gain access to standardized testing.
