Wisconsin Schools Adopt New Cellphone Restrictions for Upcoming Academic Year

Following a new state law, Wisconsin public school districts are implementing policies to limit K-12 student cellphone use for the 2026-27 school year. This measure, Act 42, received bipartisan support and mandated district plans by July 1. For instance, the Madison Metropolitan School District has adopted a policy recommending a bell-to-bell ban for younger students and stricter classroom storage for high schoolers.
