Education Department Initiates National Effort to Safeguard K-12 Students from Sexual Misconduct

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has launched a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening protections for K-12 students against sexual misconduct by staff. This effort includes providing guidance to schools on their legal obligations under ESEA and Title IX. Additionally, the OCR has opened 20 investigations into school districts suspected of mishandling sexual misconduct allegations based on recent data.
