U.S. Department of Education Hosts Summit on Combatting Higher Education Fraud
The U.S. Department of Education and the Office of the Inspector General convened the first Higher Education Fraud Summit. Federal Student Aid reported rejecting over 53,000 fraudulent FAFSAs since April, preventing more than $212 million in aid disbursements, and identifying over $1 billion in fraudulent applications for the 2026-27 FAFSA cycle.
