Michigan Governor Approves $22.9 Billion Education Budget with Focus on Literacy and Per-Pupil Funding

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed her final education budget into law, allocating approximately $22.9 billion. The budget includes an increase in per-pupil funding for K-12 schools to $10,300 and continues support for free school meals and pre-kindergarten programs. A substantial investment of $502 million is also directed towards student literacy initiatives, alongside a new weighted funding formula for vulnerable student populations.
