South Dakota Granted Federal Waiver for Education Funding Flexibility

The U.S. Department of Education has approved South Dakota's Returning Education to the States (RES) Waiver and Ed-Flex application. This approval grants the state greater autonomy to consolidate and direct over $19 million in federal education funds towards its specific priorities, such as literacy and mathematics instruction, through 2029. South Dakota is now the sixth state to receive this waiver, contributing to a total of over $109 million in federal funding managed at the local level across participating states.
