Texas Public Colleges Given Green Light to Consider Classic Learning Test (CLT) in Admissions

Texas Commissioner of Higher Education Wynn Rosser has informed public college leaders that they can immediately consider Classic Learning Test (CLT) scores for certain applicants. This decision follows a study by Texas A&M University's Public Policy Research Institute, which found the CLT, SAT, and ACT to be of 'sufficient rigor and reliability' for college admissions. The state's higher education board plans to amend its admissions policies, with new proposals expected by January for implementation in fall 2028 admissions.
