Canada Implements New Eligibility Rules for Federal Student Financial Assistance

Effective August 1, 2026, students attending private for-profit international post-secondary institutions will no longer be eligible for federal student financial assistance, including Canada Student Loans and Grants. Additionally, eligibility for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students (CSG-FT) will be limited to students attending public and not-for-profit post-secondary institutions in Canada.
