Students from All 50 States Produce National Framework for AI in America's Schools

Students representing all 50 states developed the "STUDENTS FIRST Act of 2026," a national framework for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in K-12 education. The framework proposes protections for authentic learning, student privacy, fairness, human judgment, and relationships, and includes provisions such as requiring AI-literacy instruction, prohibiting AI for artistic or written assignments (with exceptions for brainstorming/editing with teacher permission in 9th grade and above), and preventing schools from using AI to profile students or independently determine grades/discipline.
