U.S. Department of Education Begins Beta Testing for 2027-28 FAFSA Today

The U.S. Department of Education has initiated beta testing for the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on August 5, 2026. This initial phase, Beta 1, involves a limited group of school districts, community-based organizations, and higher education institutions. A broader Beta 2 access is expected in late August or early September, allowing any student or parent to request participation. Institutions and state agencies may begin receiving Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) from participating students this month.
