Douglas County School System Implements K-12 Cell Phone Ban

Effective August 5, 2026, the Douglas County School System in Georgia has expanded its electronic device policy to prohibit K-12 students from accessing cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, e-readers, headphones, and earbuds on campus during school hours. Devices must be stored in backpacks, lockers, or other secured locations from arrival to dismissal. This change follows the approval of House Bill 1009 by Governor Brian Kemp, extending Georgia's school cell phone ban to high schools.
