Texas Considers Performance-Based Funding for Universities

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has proposed a new funding model that would link university funding to outcomes, prioritizing a graduation metric focused on career-ready proficiency. The proposal, which would allocate 60% of new funding to "credentials of value" and 40% to academic progression, will be presented to the Texas Legislature in January 2027.
