Nepalese teachers warn of nationwide agitation over pay discrimination and education reforms

The Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT) has announced plans for a new nationwide agitation to commence in mid-August, following its 3rd National Council meeting. The union expressed strong dissatisfaction with the current national budget, citing alleged pay discrimination against Early Childhood Development (ECD) educators, school staff, and learning-grant teachers who were excluded from recent salary hikes. The CNT is demanding permanent positions, equal pay for all affected staff, and an allocation of 20% of the national budget to education.
