U.S. Education Department Launches Civil Rights Probe into Five Medical Schools Over Admissions Practices

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, has announced investigations into five medical schools. The probes are examining alleged violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, specifically concerning the use of racial criteria in admissions practices. Additionally, an Oregon university is under investigation for offering multiple racially focused programs.
