UC Berkeley Sees Decline in Minority Admissions Despite System-Wide Increase
While the University of California system reported an overall increase in admissions for African American, Latino, and Asian Californian students for the upcoming school year, UC Berkeley experienced a decline in Black and Latine/Latinx/Chicanx enrollment. According to The Daily Californian, UC Berkeley's student newspaper, minority applicants have been disproportionately affected by the institution's increasing selectivity, with only 10.5% of a record 251,907 applicants admitted.
