Seattle Public Schools Teacher Contract Negotiations Progress Slowly Weeks Before School Year

With the start of the school year weeks away, negotiations between Seattle Public Schools and the Seattle Education Association (SEA), representing approximately 5,800 educators, are progressing slowly. SEA Vice President Davina Diaz reported that agreement has been reached on only two of 57 proposals, with major issues yet to be discussed. The union is expressing urgency, noting that members will need to vote on a tentative agreement or strike authorization by the end of the month.
