Texas Education Freedom Accounts launch, leading to rapid growth in some private schools

Texas has launched its Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program for the 2026-2027 school year, allocating $1 billion in taxpayer money to fund private school expenses for eligible families. This initiative, also known as school vouchers, has already led to significant growth in some North Texas private schools, with one diocese reporting 400-600 new students.
