Victorian Government offers teachers a signing bonus to avert third statewide strike

The newly appointed Education Minister in Victoria, Australia, has presented a sweetened offer to the Australian Education Union, including a $2000 bonus payment and a one percent annual lump-sum payment for top-tier staff, in an effort to prevent a third statewide teacher strike scheduled for August 19. The union's members are currently voting on the proposal, which also includes a 28.3 percent pay rise over four years and embedded caps for face-to-face teaching hours.
