Maine Launches Workforce Pell Program Application, Expanding Federal Pell Grant Eligibility for Short-Term Training

The Maine Department of Labor has announced the launch of the state's Workforce Pell Application, allowing eligible Title IV postsecondary institutions to seek approval for offering Workforce Pell-eligible programs. This follows new U.S. Department of Education regulations, effective July 20, 2026, which expand federal Pell Grant eligibility to short-term workforce training programs designed for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand careers.
