U.S. Department of Education Issues National Call to Action for Colleges and Universities

Education Secretary Linda McMahon has issued a national call to action to college and university leaders, outlining the Trump administration's priorities for higher education and urging institutions to implement specific policy changes. This initiative follows last year's unsuccessful 'Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education' and now asks campus leaders to publicly detail how they are addressing these selected priorities. The American Council on Education (ACE) and over 60 other higher education associations have previously opposed a proposed federal rule that would expand political appointees' control over federal grants, warning it could shift grant decisions from merit to politics.
