School City of East Chicago to Phase In Clear Backpacks for 2026-2027 School Year

The School City of East Chicago announced it will begin phasing in the use of clear backpacks during the 2026-2027 school year as part of its commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment. Additionally, students are tentatively scheduled to return to school today, August 25, 2026, following recent storm-related power outages.
