Education Department Partners with Treasury to Combat Improper Payments

The U.S. Department of Education, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, has initiated a data matching program. This program, established under the Privacy Act of 1974, aims to identify, prevent, and recover improper payments within federal student aid and other financial programs through the Do Not Pay initiative. The measure seeks to enhance financial accountability and reduce fraud.
