University of Exeter faces criticism over deal to train Saudi military officers

The University of Exeter has approved a partnership with Saudi Arabia's National Defense University to deliver a master's degree in applied security and strategy to Saudi military officers and government officials. The agreement, which could generate millions of pounds for the university, has been condemned by the Exeter branch of the University and College Union. The union accused university management of prioritizing revenue from authoritarian governments over its own academic programs, especially amidst plans to cut 150 jobs, primarily in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.
