University of Chicago's Social Sciences Division Bans Technology and AI in Core Courses

The University of Chicago's undergraduate social sciences division will implement a blanket policy banning technology in class and AI assistance on coursework for its core courses this fall. This coordinated prohibition, which also extends to in-class audio/video recording and faculty use of generative AI for grading, follows a similar ban in the university's law school earlier this summer. The policy aims to address the increasing use of large language models by students.
