Maryland Launches First State-Sponsored Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers

Governor Wes Moore announced Maryland's first state-sponsored registered apprenticeship program for teaching. This initiative aims to expand the teacher workforce by providing aspiring educators with hands-on training, mentorship, paid work experience, and reduced costs for earning a degree and license. The program, developed in partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education, Maryland State Education Association, and Maryland Department of Labor, is expected to begin enrollment in Caroline and Washington counties in early 2026.
