New York City to Ban Student AI Tools for Grades 2-K Through 8th Grade and Limit Classroom Screen Time

New York City is set to release a new school policy banning student-facing AI tools, including chatbots and AI tutors, for students in early childhood programs, elementary, and middle schools (2-K through 8th grade). The policy also recommends limiting individual device screen time for students in grades 3-5 to 30 minutes and middle school students to 45 minutes.
