Pennsylvania Governor Announces $678 Million Investment in Public Education

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced a $678 million increase in funding for the state's public schools as part of the 2026-27 budget. This investment brings the total increase in public school funding to over $3 billion, or nearly 35 percent, since Governor Shapiro took office. The funding includes a $565 million increase through the bipartisan adequacy and tax equity formula, a $58 million increase for Basic Education Funding, and a $55 million increase for Special Education Funding. The administration also highlighted rising graduation rates, increased teacher certifications, and expanded access to career and technical education as results of these investments.
