Universities of Wisconsin propose four-year tuition freeze and 'Wisconsin Work and Learn' initiative for affordability

The Universities of Wisconsin have announced a push for state funding to support a new four-year tuition pledge, which would freeze tuition for two academic years starting in fall 2027, contingent on a $190 million state investment. Additionally, a 'Wisconsin Work and Learn' initiative, with an extra $50 million investment, aims to eliminate tuition for Wisconsin students from families earning at or below the state's median household income, in exchange for their engagement with local employers through internships or apprenticeships.
