Malaysian Education Ministry Urged to Grant District Autonomy for Haze-Related School Disruptions

Likas assemblyman Tham Yun Fook urged the Malaysian Education Ministry to decentralize decision-making regarding haze-related school disruptions, allowing district education authorities to act based on real-time conditions. He argued that the current National Haze Action Plan (NHAP) guidelines are outdated and that placing the choice on parents creates an unfair burden, proposing a shift to home-based or hybrid learning during prolonged unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) levels.
