Survey Indicates Over 40% of Teachers Hold Second Jobs

A recent American Federation of Teachers (AFT) survey found that more than 40% of its K-12 members work a second job to cover living expenses. The August 2026 survey of over 2,100 teachers also revealed that nearly a third are likely to leave the profession within a year due to high stress and financial pressures.
