Maryland State Board of Education Delays New K-8 Math Instruction Requirement

The Maryland State Board of Education has unanimously approved an extended timeline for implementing a new statewide mathematics instruction policy. The requirement for all K-8 school districts to provide 60 minutes of daily math instruction will be delayed from the FY27–28 school year to the FY28–29 school year, allowing more time for analysis and equitable implementation.
