Bahamas Teachers Union Reaches Five-Year Pay and Benefits Agreement

The Bahamas Union of Teachers (BUT) has finalized a five-year industrial agreement with the government, securing substantial salary increases and other benefits for its members. The deal, retroactive to July 1, 2025, raises the maximum teacher salary to $54,000 and entry-level pay to $30,100. Additionally, teachers will receive lump-sum payments and hardship allowances for relocating to Family Island schools, aiming to improve teacher compensation and retention.
