U.S. Education Department introduces new playbook to empower states in education decision-making as federal role shrinks

The U.S. Department of Education has launched a new Learning Agenda Playbook, a resource designed to help states build capacity for problem-solving and program improvements. This initiative comes as the federal department reduces its involvement in state education decisions, encouraging states to take greater ownership of challenges and solutions. The playbook offers case studies, templates, guidance, and other resources for state education agencies to set goals, measure progress, and make financial investments in areas such as literacy and teacher recruitment and retention. Additionally, the department is transferring day-to-day responsibilities for various programs, including grant management and civil rights enforcement, to other federal agencies.
