Bellefonte Teachers Union Members to Vote on Possible Strike After Year of Negotiations
Members of the Bellefonte Area Education Association are scheduled to vote today on whether to authorize a strike, following a year of unsuccessful contract negotiations with the school district. The union, representing approximately 230 professional staff, cites Bellefonte's low competitiveness in staff compensation compared to other Centre County districts and a lack of fair pay as key issues. Their previous agreement expired on June 30, and professional staff began the current school year without a contract. The next negotiation session is scheduled for September 22.
