DHS Implements New Rules for International Student Visas

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has enacted new F1 visa rules for international students, effective today. These changes limit admission to a fixed period, typically four years, and introduce restrictions on major changes, school transfers, and program moves. Students requiring more time for studies or Optional Practical Training (OPT) must now apply for an extension, incurring an additional fee. This impacts thousands of international students in the U.S.
