New York to Implement Single Statewide High School Diploma by 2028, Ending Regents Exam Requirement

New York State is moving forward with plans to establish a single statewide high school diploma, eliminating the requirement for students to pass a specific set of Regents exams for graduation, starting with the class of 2028. While Regents exams will continue to assess learning standards, passing them will no longer be a separate graduation prerequisite. This new system will replace the current local, Regents, and Regents with Advanced Designation diplomas.
