US Education Department Extends Student Loan Auto Pay Benefit Deadline

The U.S. Department of Education has extended the enrollment deadline for a 1% interest rate reduction on federal student loans for those using auto pay. Borrowers now have until December 31, 2026, to enroll, with the benefit lasting until June 30, 2028. This aims to assist borrowers, including those re-entering repayment, and ensure access to benefits under the new Repayment Assistance Plan.
