Former Texas Southern Adjunct Professor Sentenced for Nearly $1 Million in Student Aid Fraud
A former adjunct professor at Texas Southern University, Emmanuel Olugbaike Finnih, has been sentenced to 6.5 years in federal prison and three years of probation for collecting nearly $1 million in fraudulent student financial aid. Finnih pleaded guilty to theft of government funds, fraud, unlawful use or transfer of identity documents, and aggravated identity theft. He submitted over 100 fraudulent financial aid applications using students' personal information, which resulted in significant student loan debt for the victims and negatively impacted their credit and enrollment.
