Treasury Department issues guidance on new Education Freedom Tax Credit

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and IRS have published temporary and proposed regulations for the new Section 25F Education Freedom Tax Credit. This credit, effective for contributions made beginning in 2027, provides new funding opportunities for Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) and addresses aspects such as credit calculation, SGO qualification, student eligibility verification, and state election procedures.
